Kennall Vale Nature Reserve is the site of the Kennal Gunpowder Company, where gunpowder for the Cornish mines was made from 1812 to 1910. This is a hidden fairy tale valley lying forgotten between Falmouth and Redruth. Massive granite mill buildings, an abandoned weir, waterwheels, layers of once water filled aqueducts, are disappearing under layers of moss and ferns as nature reclaims them for herself. Waterfalls meandering through green shrubbery carpeted and bordered with flora such as bluebells, depending on the time of year. Trees roots retaking the ground.
